Last Post

Regrettably, this is my last post for this blog. Last week’s ultrasound revealed that there was no heart, no blood flow, and no increase in size. They believe it stopped growing at 6 weeks. No known cause with only a speculation that something didn’t go right between the sperm and the egg on a chromosomal level.

The next step is getting through the miscarriage. Not the most pleasant experience so far, but I still have hope that someday in the near future, another Baby Carney will come along, and we’ll begin this road again.

Until then, keep us in your prayers as we deal with the current challenge. Best wishes to my other pregnant friends. I’ll catch up with you soon enough. Smile

Oddly enough, this is the first song that came to my mind over the weekend. I guess we always look back on songs we grew up with for comfort.

Caught Cold

As fate would have it, I caught a cold after vacation. I'm on Day 4 of this, and diligently doing what I can to take care of myself since I can't take any cold medication. Oh, how I long for Pseudophedrine! However, lots of sleep, water, and food have been helpful. Plus, our Vicks vaporizer has been great at night. Cleansing my sinuses during the day seems to keep congestion down too.

Great chance to practice perseverance and love!

Second Ultrasound

I went in for my second ultrasound yesterday (Aug. 17th) to get another peek at Baby Carney. I was told it was about the size of a grain of rice, thus far, and just a little behind schedule for size. (that’s my baby!) It was still a bit early to hear the heartbeat, but our technician thought she caught a glimpse of vibration from this little grain of rice. Smile

I’m scheduled to go back in again in two weeks (Sept. 1st) to keep a close on our baby’s progression. That same day I’ll be going in for an official first exam with a blood test and other physical examinations. (fun, fun).

As of a week and a half ago, I’ve been feeling back to my old self again. No cramps. No acid reflux. Just frequent trips to the bathroom. I have very efficient kidneys now. But Tom and I have stocked up on saltines and 7-Up just in case.

Flight to AZ

Baby Carney's first flight, and it happens to be to Tucson! This can only mean my baby is going to be a globe trotter as well. :)

The plane ride was fine, and I made it through without trouble. I was glad to have an aisle seat though. A lot of my aches and pains have disappeared, as of a few days ago, and I'm getting some energy back! This makes me happy, being that I was worried that my trip would be spent lying around.

Ok, so I'm still vegging out with Tara, but it's by choice. Just like the good old days...

Sunday, August 7, 2011

Wow, did I ever have a burst of energy tonight! Got home from work and immediately cooked some dinner. Even unusual when I wasn't pregnant!

I'm hoping some of these symptoms are subsiding for awhile. Feeling normal again. :)

Things I've Learned This Week

1) First Trimester is NOT the easiest trimester.
2) The heating pad is an amazing invention!
3) But... too much time with heating pad on tummy confuses the placenta. Limit to 10 minutes.
4) That leads me to believe... is there really ANY relief for pregnant women?? I can't even have Advil.
5) More people share in the joy of my pregnancy than I'd ever thunk.
6) There are some awesome maternity clothes out there!
7) Just when I thought I snacked a lot already, I found that I can snack a whole lot more.
8) So I actually have to plan this thing? Guess I better figure out who will deliver my kid...
9) Pregnant women are more susceptible to gingivitis. Oh great...

I would love to hear stories from other moms. What were you surprised by during your pregnancy?
